Chinese New Year 2012

Kiong Hee Huat Chai!
Kung Hei Fat Choi!
Gong Xi Fa Cai!

These were the Chinese new year greetings I received from my family and friends today. I'm not Chinese but it makes me feel happy hearing different persons wish me a good luck for the year of the water dragon. Despite the fact that I'm a pure Filipino, I believe in Feng Shui and Chinese signs. Because of this, I spent some of my hours reading magazines and newspapers that provide articles on how I could get lucky for 2012. I'm glad I did because I've learned many things and found out that the Dragon could bring many good things into my life.

As I read "Year of the Water Dragon: Chinese New Year Special Supplement 2012" of Manila Bulletin, I cam across numerous Chinese sayings and proverbs that everyone could use as guides on welcoming and enjoying 2012. Below are some of the quotes I wish to share to you.

"Luck is an alien land and wealth is from abroad."

"Rumors are stopped by the intelligent persons."

"Lay away against the rainy day."

"Get one more friend and get less enemy."

"Harmony in the family will bring prosperity."

"Take a firm hold."

"Anger and haste hinder good counsel."

"Being on the sea, sail; being on land, settle."

"One kind of rice feeds thousands of different people in this world."

"It's never too late to mend."

"Trouble comes out from the mouth."
"Gentleness to subjugate hardness."

"Retreat in order to go forward."

"Talk less and work more."

"Greed will cause poverty."

"What you plant is what you will get."

"Pride will have a fall."

"No sweet without sweat."

"He who can bear the bitterness of hardship can then be a man above men."

"Goodness has a good recompense; wickedness has a bad recompense. If not, the time hasn't come yet."

"Justice has long arms. The mills of God grind slowly."

"Do not do unto others as you do not like them to do to you."

"Be lenient with others."

"There is no relationship between father and son on the majong table."

"Wealth never comes urgently."

"Strike while the iron is hot."

"Where there is a will, there is a way."

"Under the heaven, there is no difficult thing; especially if the man has a heart for it."

"Time is memory."

"There is no stopping limit for learning."

"Lay up against a rainy day."

"Trouble comes forth from the mouth."

"Too greedy will become poor."
